More detailed information about the avalanche: 

made a run into the bottom of the hourglass in the french gulch\frost peak area, as soon as i went by a clump of trees, i knew the snow was the type that will slide, as soon as i was past the clump of trees, i went left to an island of safety and notice cracking above me to my right and below me to the left i could see the wave forming.  I exited the slide and rode to the bottom to see the debris pile 10 feet deep.  I did not approach this in the "gut" but stayed very close to the tree line, to not expose my self to much.
