After the CTN, we performed a Shovel Shear Test to see if anything would shear. The block broke under moderate pressure, but not in a plane. Instead, it broke in steps from the tip of the shovel blade downward towards the face of the block, where it exited just above the F- faceted layer in the lowest 20cm of the profile.
