Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

We dug a pit at roughly 5800' near the top of the training grounds hill across from Lookout Pass, on a SW aspect.  Depth: ~95cm. Snow pack was "right side up", increasing in hardness from one finger at the base, four fingers on either side of the weak layer (around 65cm), and fist hardness near the top.  The weak layer was < 5mm, and roughly pencil hardness.

ECT did not propagate.  We couldn't tell if the weak layer fractured as it was quite thin.  After the test we used a shovel to pull off the upper layer of snow.  The interface was very smooth and consistent.
