More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Sudden collapse and shooting cracks.  Difficult to see the crack in the photo but it shot about 20' up slope.  Entire area collapsed with a loud whumpf.  Had 4 of these about the same size collapse.  20-25 degree slope.  Heavy wind loading from winds ripping across the top of the ridge.  Wind slab in this location was about 2' thick.
