More detailed information about the snowpack: 

For skiing, 10inches of powder was compromized by a 1/4" ice crust on top. You could ski it, but I have bruises on my knees from busting through it on each turn.  Snowmobiling is fine though. The new snow bonded well with the old snow underneath and stabilized well.
