Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Variable depths of snow, but about 18-28" from 5k-6k' elevation. NE winds from earlier in the week left wind slabs along rigdelines that were still very touchy with propagating failures in tests. Most notable concern is 4-15mm surface hoar that may get covered next week/next storm. Dug a pit: 6200', N aspect, 34 deg slope angle; ECTP 8 taps failed 12 cm down on wind slab/old snow; ECTP 22 taps failed 16 cm down on 1 mm facets above melt freeze crust. Stoked to be riding off trail this early, although carefully.
